Nigeria - Victoria escaped captivity

 Source: Open Doors USA

After 120 days in captivity, Victoria and her children are finally free.

For four months since the attack on their village on Easter Sunday, they endured hunger, illness and unimaginable hardship after being kidnapped by militant Fulanis in Nigeria’s Kaduna State. Food was so scarce that Victoria became severely emaciated in captivity.

When Victoria saw an opportunity to escape, she took it. Carrying her critically ill 4-year-old daughter, Christy, she and her children walked barefoot through the bush for two days without food or water.

Tragically, Christy died before they reached safety. Victoria had already endured the loss of her newborn baby during captivity.

Today, she and her surviving children are receiving medical care.

PRAISE God for their freedom. Pray now for their healing—for physical recovery, comfort in their grief and strength for the difficult journey ahead.

And please continue to PRAY for the Christians from their community who remain in captivity—that God would sustain them and bring them safely home.
